GHO aims to contribute to the enabling environment for accelerating action against non communicable diseases and women’s health, especially cervical cancer.
One major focus includes innovative approaches, new tools and partnerships in this objective, and in other health related issues.
Our work is focused on three major areas of interest, with people at the center.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a basis to develop innovative approaches to improve women’s healthcare programs, particularly cervical cancer control. There are many new medications, vaccines, medical devices, diagnostic tests and new communication technologies now available to help these developments advance.
GHO creates synergies with some of the key actors of this unique concentration of international organizations including Permanent Missions, NGOs and Academia. Beyond this global platform, GHO will also develop relationships with Swiss research institutes, other NGOs and academia as well as other Swiss or European stakeholders involved in GHO’s health related topics to make the best use of the current trajectory on these issues.
Especially mobile phone technology as a key strategy for advancing women’s health in both developed and developing countries, particularly in Africa where access and costs are major concerns. Those technologies can not only extend better health to women, but it can also bring it to the most affordable level , playing a key role in improving data collection, standards, monitoring and evaluation. Consequently, connected health should play an increasing role in improving cervical cancer control and the health care system as a whole.
